New to First Assembly?

Thanks for checking us out! We know coming to a new church can be overwhelming, so we’ve tried to do some things to make it easier for you. You’ll find some things you may want or need to know as you find a new place to call home within God’s family. We’re here to help you in any way we can!

Sundays

Sunday mornings start at 9 a.m. with Sunday School/Community groups. We have classes for children and older adults. Our young adults use this time to build community, talk about our lives and encourage each other in the Lord.
At 10 a.m. our services begin. Our children go to the Wild-N-Free kids ministry led by Robin Howard. Adults meet in a spacious sanctuary for a service with contemporary worship and a relevant message from Pastor Eric Graffam.

Currently, we do still have a Sunday evening service. It begins at 6 p.m. Usually one week per month will be a fellowship meal, while other weeks will have a message and traditional worship.

Wednesday Evenings

Wednesday evenings at First Assembly are mostly about KIDS! We have kids from the church as well as the community come for food, fellowship and a time of learning about God. From around 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. kids under the age of 12 are under the care of the Wild-N-Free Kids Ministry led by Robin Howard. Older girls meet under the teaching and care of Kari Fritzal and Michelle Gemmer, who pour their lives into the teens, teaching them about Jesus. Older boys are in our church gym with Kevin Ashcraft and Ben Gemmer. The boys have a devotional and prayer time and also enjoy a little basketball. We also have amazing people from our church community whose service on Wednesdays is providing a meal for every child, every week!

Many of our Wednesday night kids get to the church courtesy of our going out to pick them up from around the community. Thankfully our church is blessed to have several large vehicles in operation. We feel a special calling to bring hope to these young people who may otherwise never enter the church doors!

In addition to our ministry to children there is an adult bible study and teaching time that begins at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Vision and Mission

In John 4:34-35  Jesus said, ‘The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started. As you look around right now, wouldn’t you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I’m telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what’s right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It’s harvest time!‘“ (The Message)
First Assembly exists for the purpose of reaching the unchurched — leading them to Jesus, then teaching them about Jesus. Our Vision is W.I.N.G.S. based on “Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” – Isaiah 40:31
Win the lost…
Luke 19:10  “For the Son of Man has come to seek and save that which was lost.”
Matthew 28:10 “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all I command you.”
Improve the Family…
Colossians  3 (New Living Translation)
Ephesians 5 (New Living Translation)
Nurture Children…
Matthew 19:14  “Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.’”
Proverbs 22:6  “Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Grow Our Ministries…
Matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick; raise the dead; cure those with leprosy and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!”
John 9:4 “All of us must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the One who sent Me, because there is little time left before the night falls and all work comes to an end.”  (New Living Translation)
Serve our Community…
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
1 Corinthians 9:22 “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by ALL means save some.” (New Living Translation)

Fundamental Truths

WE BELIEVE… the Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.

WE BELIEVE…there is only One True God–revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).

WE BELIEVE…in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.

WE BELIEVE…though originally good, man willingly fell to sin–ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.

WE BELIEVE…every person can have restored fellowship with God through ‘salvation’ (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior).  [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

WE BELIEVE…the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times.  [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE… the initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the day of Pentecost and referenced throughout the New Testament.

WE BELIEVE…sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but it’s also a progressive lifelong process as believers become more Christlike.

WE BELIEVE…the Church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin.

WE BELIEVE…‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE…A divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up and edify the body of believers and meet human needs with ministries of love and compassion.

WE BELIEVE…physical healing is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in the blessed hope—when Jesus raptures His church prior to His return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

WE BELIEVE…in the millennial reign of Christ in which Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.

WE BELIEVE…a final judgment will take place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.

WE BELIEVE…and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord!
